If you’re looking for a comfortable and affordable place to stay in Quezon City, the Red Hotel Cubao is a great option. This hotel has everything you need for a pleasant stay, including comfortable rooms and excellent facilities. Read on for our review of the Red Hotel Cubao.
Location = 5/5
Address: 627 Epifanio de los Santos Ave, Cubao, Quezon City, 1109 Metro Manila
Phone: (02) 8253 1888
If you’re looking for a convenient place to stay in the city, Red Hotel Cubao is a great option. It’s located along EDSA, so it’s easy to get around, and there are plenty of Grab drivers in the area.
The only thing to keep in mind is that drivers should go to Pinatubo Street at the back of the hotel to pick up and drop off passengers. Overall, the location was great and we had no trouble getting off or picking a cab.
It’s right beside SOGO also. There are neighbor hotels in it like Hotel 99, RedDoorz, Eurotel, Wow Budget Hotel, OYO 109, Nice Hotel, Vista Hotel, etc. What can I say? There are lots of ‘em.
Area and locality
Red Hotel Cubao is a convenient choice for travelers looking for a hotel in the heart of the city. Surrounded by karinderias and shops, it’s easy to find what you need nearby.
There are plenty of karinderias surrounding the hotel, making it easy to get a quick meal. The ground floor of the hotel also has a few shops, including Goldilocks and a milk tea store.
This makes it easy to grab a snack or pick up any essentials you might need during your stay. Plus, the hotel is located close to other attractions like Art in the Island, Quezon Memorial Circle, Ninoy Aquino Parks, Cubao Expo, and Farmers Market.
It’s near public transit areas like the Araneta Center and Cubao MRT.
And, with so many attractions nearby, you won’t be bored. If you’re looking for a hotel that is central to all the action, Red Hotel Cubao is a perfect choice.
Rooms = 4/5
Even the standard queen rooms at Red Hotel Cubao are clean, homey, and spacious for one small person. The bed is to die for. The pillows and comforter are so comfy. You get two chairs and a table. There are complimentary water bottles and coffee, a TV, and slippers.
I loved my room. It was so clean and homey feeling, not like most hotels where they give you just enough space to turn around in your room. But this room felt like I could actually live in it for a while if I needed to.
And the bed! Oh my goodness, the bed was amazing. So soft and comfortable, I didn’t want to get out of it in the morning. Overall, I had a great experience at the Red Hotel in Cubao and would definitely stay there again.
Bathroom
The rooms at Red Hotel Cubao are certainly luxurious, and the bathroom is no exception. The huge glass doors give the space a modern look (like you’re walking through a nightclub entrance), and the marble finish is very elegant.
However, I did find the shower to be somewhat problematic. Without any doors to close, there is a risk that water will get out onto the bathroom floor – something that could be quite dangerous if you’re not careful.
Overall, though, the room was lovely and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a bit of luxury on their travels.
Amenities = 4/5
Red Hotel Cubao offers free parking and WiFi, as well as a variety of amenities such as a 24-hour front desk, restaurant, rooftop bar, gym, and pool.
Free parking – didn’t use
Red Hotel Cubao offers free parking space making it a convenient place to stay. I find this beneficial if you have an event, seminar, or workshop on the hotel’s 4th floor. It’s always busy there!
Free Wifi – 3.5/5
In today’s connected world, WiFi is an important amenity that any hotel should have. The connection can be a little tad slow (or on and off) if you’re far away from the DOOR. That’s right. The connection is much stronger outside than inside the rooms. Overall, if you position yourself right next to the door, you can have a decent connection.
SMS signal can be a challenge inside the room though. Sometimes, it’s non-existent. So, you have to go outside the room just to text or call someone.
Gym – didn’t use
I haven’t been to the gym or any Anytime Fitness Gyms in Iloilo as well. But, I reckon it’s nice since I’ve seen a lot of hotel stayers go there, too.
Indoor swimming pool – 4.5/5
The first time I was in 2020, swimming hours were around 6AM to 10PM. I knew that because I always take the morning swim. In 2022, due to COVID-19, the schedule changed from 9AM to 7PM. I was always there either before lunch or late in the afternoon if I wasn’t busy with work or something.
The pool is located on the 5th floor of the hotel – the same floor as the main lobby, reception, and restaurant. You just need to go to the far side of the room elevators to enter the pool.
The pool’s height was still kept at 4 feet (I said “STILL KEPT” because I thought they have plans of making it higher) – and, I’m pretty short at 4 ft. 10.5 in, so, it’s a yay for me.
The pool is perfect for kids and families, but individuals who are looking to “deep swim” in a pool, might not find the height ideal for them. In short, if you’re nearly 6ft. tall –and, with the pool (at 4ft.) – you might not find it enjoyable (according to some).
I usually swam alone in the pool area, so I don’t have any complaints about the space. But, I did find having and seeing 6 or 7 adults too overcrowding for my taste.
If you didn’t bring any personal towels and had to rent from the reception area, it would cost you P200. Hotel guests couldn’t use room towels when used for swimming. So, it’s best to have your own towel or robe if you went on swimming.
Function Rooms – never visited
As any business owner knows, finding the right venue for a meeting or event can be a challenge. There are so many factors to consider, from the size of the room to the amenities offered. Red Hotel Cubao is a new hotel that offers a variety of function rooms, making it the perfect place to host your next event.
The rooms are well-designed and spacious, and they offer all the latest technology, including WiFi and audiovisual equipment. In addition, the hotel staff is professional and attentive, and they will work with you to ensure that your event is a success.
Red Ape Rooftop Bar – 17th Floor
Red Ape Rooftop Bar is undoubtedly the best option to enjoy your favorite drink while admiring the incredible views of Cubao. The bar is located on the roof of the hotel, providing stunning panoramic views of the cityscape. The drinks menu is extensive and includes both local and international beers, wines, and spirits.
There is also a selection of snacks available, making it the perfect place to relax and watch the sunset. However, it should be noted that we’re on a pandemic, so not many people are there. In fact, when I visited the bar, I was the only one there and the bartender.
Additionally, the prices are on the higher end, so it is not the best option for budget-minded travelers. Nevertheless, Red Ape Rooftop Bar is a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy a drink with a view of Cubao.
Food and Drink – 4.5/5
Located at La Muse Restaurant on the 5th floor, Red Hotel offers a great selection of food and drink that can be easily ordered from the restaurant to your room. Whether you’re looking for a quick bite or a full meal, Red Hotel has something for everyone. And with convenient room service, you can enjoy your meal in the comfort of your own room.
Here are my top favorites:
Soup: Fresh broccoli and asparagus
If you’re looking for a creamy, rich soup that is hearty and filling, then you’ll love this recipe for fresh broccoli and asparagus soup. The asparagus provides a sweetness to the soup, while the broccoli gives it a slight bitterness that is balanced out by the creamy pesto sauce.
The soup is also perfumed with garlic and onion, giving it a deep, complex flavor. The croutons add a nice crunch to the soup, and the pesto sauce provides a beautiful green color that makes this soup truly stunning.
You can’t go wrong with fresh broccoli and asparagus soup, perfumed with pesto sauce and served with croutons. The combination of fresh vegetables and creamy pesto is simply irresistible, and the soup is sure to leave you feeling satisfied.
Burger and sandwich: US Angus Beef Burger
This mouth-watering burger is made with 150 gms. of grilled and spiced roasted beef tenderloin, cheese, tomato, cucumber, lettuce, and mayo sauce. It’s so big and juicy, that you’ll be struggling to take your next bite!
The beef is perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the cheese is melted to perfection. The tomato and cucumber add freshness to the burger, while the lettuce provides a crunch. The mayo sauce ties everything together perfectly.
Really loved the spiced meat – barely even finished my meal!
Beef: Bistek Tagalog
I had Bistek Tagalog on Sunday. So, it’s basically your traditional bistek (beef steak) served with thinly sliced beef sirloin that is carmelized in onions and soy sauce. While it is typically made with normal cuts of beef, this high-end preparation of your favorite bistek is sure to impress.
It was a nicely cooked beef with enough soy sauce and onions to infuse their flavors into the meat. The meat was also both tender and packed with flavor.
No longer available: Pesto Penne (2020 visit)
In 2020, the day before the Manila lockdown I had Pesto Penne as my brunch paired with red wine. The hotel stopped serving them during the onset of the pandemic. There’s something about pesto penne that just hits the spot. Either way, it’s a dish that always leaves me feeling satisfied.
I made one at home also – but with tuna! Pesto penne is deceptively simple to make, but the results are fine-dining quality. The key is in the quality of the ingredients. I like to use good-quality olive oil and fresh basil leaves in my pesto. And for the pasta, I always use a brand that I trust. Once you have your ingredients sorted, the rest is easy.
Not available: Crispy Fish Fillet Burger
This breaded fish fillet is served with potato wedges on the side, making it a great option when you’re looking for something satisfying but not too heavy. Plus, it’s great for sharing. More like another take on fish ‘n chips.
Most seafood-based dishes aren’t available this time.
Not available: House wine. But, they have lots of beer though!
About La Muse Restaurant
LA MUSE is an all-day dining restaurant serving an extensive à la carte menu and buffet breakfast and dinner selections. It features International, Asian and Filipino cuisine with a twist that will surely catch the tastes of everyone. The restaurant’s concept got its theme from the famous painting “La Muse” by Pablo Picasso. The restaurant was elegant and quite cozy. And very cold!
Staff and Service – 5/5
The staff are always friendly and helpful, and they work fast to get things done. They’re also very efficient, so you don’t have to wait around for things to get done. And, if you need anything, they’re always on their feet and ready to help.
When I settled in on my room and turned the AC on, the unit was a bust. The AC gave low and slow conditioning, plus it leaked. The room was 2/5 flooded with the aircon, so I called the staff for help. They arrived in my room around 5 minutes or so and tinkered with the AC.
After that, everything went well.
The receptionist was also friendly. I forgot her name. But she was bubbly and attentive.
The staff and personnel at La Muse Restaurant were welcoming also. They remembered that I was allergic to chicken and suggested dishes and breakfast buffet options with no chicken meat. This went on for 5 days – so yeah!
Value for Money = 4/5
Red Hotel Cubao is one of the most popular hotels in the area, and it’s not hard to see why. The rooms are spacious and clean, and the staff are always helpful. The hotel is also conveniently located in the heart of Cubao, making it easy to get around.
However, some of the amenities are a bit on the expensive side, and the dining options are limited. It’s quite understandable since we’re on a pandemic.
Overall, though, Red Hotel Cubao is a great option for those looking for value for money.
Overall =4.41/5
