It’s lumpia madness at every gathering or event at a Filipino home! This savory snack makes a tasty appetizer or side to any dinner because of its unique blend of sweet, salty, and sour flavors. Lumpia consists of vegetables, meat, and sometimes seafood in a thin wrapper and sometimes fried in oil for added crunch.
Eating lumpia at a Filipino home can be especially exciting because it’s prepared differently by each family. Some might make their lumpia extra crispy, while others prefer it soft. Others use only ground pork, while others opt for more texture by adding chopped vegetables or pieces of shrimp. We serve it plain, while others offer various sauces on the side, such as sweet chili sauce or garlic vinegar. No matter how it’s served, however, it’s always delicious!
No matter where you go in the Philippines or worldwide, lumpia will likely always be at any Filipino get-together or celebration.
