Original Biscocho Haus
The king of pasalubong stores!
Original Biscocho Haus, located in Jaro, Iloilo, is a beloved pasalubong spot for both locals and tourists alike. It opened its doors back in 1975 as an industry of specialty food products by the Guadarrama family.
The most popular item on the menu is their biscocho, a crunchy biscuit-like pastry that’s usually with butter and sprinkled with sugar. Other treats include the Biscocho Principe, classic butterscotch, and Calamansi Butterscotch. Bread lovers will enjoy Kinihad (butter toast), Galletas, Toasted Mamon, and Bañadas – my personal favorite. For those wanting some Ilonggo sweet treats, there are Caramel Tart, Mango Tart, and Meringue available to try.

Original Deocampo Barquillos
Original Deocampo Barquillos has been a beloved pasalubong shop since 1896, known for their iconic long, crispy Filipino wafer snack that melts in your mouth. This delicious treat was inspired by the Spanish barquillos, and is made using ingredients such as sugar and milk, then adding flour, egg, vanilla, and butter. Its origins lie in an experiment combining sugar and milk and “ostya” leftovers that yielded this popular snack.
Today Deocampo Barquillos offers a variety of flavors beyond its classic original—customers can also find pandan and ube barquillos. The shop has also expanded to offer other Ilonggo fares such as biscocho, toasted mammon, butter toast, siopao, and piaya. All of these treats are perfect for gifting to friends and family or even as souvenirs from Iloilo City.

RGies PH
I remember interviewing the owner for an article with the Department of Science and Technology 6 because I was employed back there. But, I forgot where I placed the article and photos.
Ramon and Grace, the owners of RGies PH, started making their butterscotch in 1985. Their mission was to give good friends something more special than just a mere gift – something that could be shared with everyone. With this thought in mind, they came up with the idea of making delicious butterscotch and opened RGies in 2003. After much experimentation, they perfected the traditional recipe into something new and exciting – Mango Bits Butterscotch.
Since then, RGies PH has become a staple family business in Iloilo City. The store has also added more variants to its already popular product line such as Choco Oats Butterscotch, Dates Butterscotch, Almonds Butterscotch, Walnuts Butterscotch, and Coffeescotch Chips. Moreover, they have also included other delectables such as oat polvorone and lemon crisps in their repertoire of products.
Through the help of DOST (Department of Science and Technology) packaging services, RGies was able to improve their products’ shelf life. Since then, RGies has been producing high-quality pasalubong items that are now enjoyed by thousands all over the country.
RGies’ success story is definitely one worth sharing. From humble beginnings to becoming one of the most trusted pasalubong stores in Iloilo City today, Ramon and Grace’s passion for bringing smiles to people’s faces through their pasalubong treats continues on strong for almost 40 years in business.

Original Cream Horn Iloilo (formerly Margec’s Creamhorn)
Iloilo’s Original Cream Horns (formerly Margec’s Creamhorn) have been a staple pasalubong treat for many years. For years, the store has been a favorite among locals and tourists alike. These scrumptious puff pastries come in boxes of 10 pieces and can be purchased for Php245 each.
The classic cream horn recipe includes a light and flaky pastry dough filled with a sweet custard mixture, which is then baked to perfection in the oven. It is rolled into a cone shape before being topped with grated cheese or sprinkled with sugar. The result is an irresistible pastry that melts in your mouth.
Aside from their signature cream horn, Margec’s also offers other variations of puff pastry including different fillings like choco cream and yema, as well as the ever-popular Napoleones.

Wewin’s Corporation (Bakeshop)
Wewin’s Pasalubong is an establishment in Iloilo that started in 1976. It is widely known for its Pinasugbo, a traditional Filipino banana chip dessert that comes wrapped in paper cones. But this shop also offers a variety of other delicious meals and snacks.
At Wewin’s Pasalubong, customers can enjoy a range of delectable dishes such as bihon and bam-e, pancit molo, batchoy, and hototay. Hototay is especially my favorite and I did notice it’s becoming popular among locals thanks to its flavorful broth. In addition to these savory meals, Wewin’s Pasalubong also sells Ilonggo sweet treats like tarts, egg pie, and siopao for just Php50 or more per order.
The great thing about this local eatery is that it offers affordable meals without compromising on quality or taste. Furthermore, their friendly staff ensures that all orders are prepared quickly so that customers can get the best service possible.

Panaderia de Molo
Panaderia de Molo has been a fixture of the Spanish culinary landscape since 1872, making it one of the oldest bakeries in the Philippines. Its signature molo balls are to thank for it. These round dumplings are made from a simple combination of flour, pork broth, and chicken or beef filling. But this bakery is about more than just molo balls—it’s home to an array of delightful treats.
For starters, there is the traditional pandesal, a type of Filipino bread roll that’s lightly sweetened and perfect for dunking in coffee or tea. Then there are the best-selling galletas, biscocho, broas, meringue (comes in mint, strawberry, and chocolate marble) and toasted mamon among many others.
For those who prefer something lighter, Panaderia de Molo also offers its well-loved goat’s milk barquillos—thin wafers that melt in your mouth.
The original bakeshop can be found in Molo, while two of its branches are located at Jaro and Rizal Street.

Bingkahan sa Mohon -> Oton
For over 70 years, this bingkahan has been serving a classic and iconic snack delicacy pakadto sa Oton in a very unique way. It is made with a unique combination of ingredients, including pilit, regular rice, shredded coconut, and white sugar. They are situated, as the name goes, around Mohon, on the way to Oton.
This bibingka sweet flavor (despite not having coconut milk as a staple ingredient) and chewy texture make it a favorite amongst locals and passersby.
The traditional method of making Bingkahan sa Mohon starts with cooking the glutinous rice until tender. Once the rice is cooked, it is then mixed with the other ingredients. These ingredients are then placed in small tin molds and covered with banana leaves before being steamed. The finished product has a delightful coco chewy texture that can be enjoyed straight from the banana leaves.
Despite some modern variations on this classic snack like those made with coconut milk, no other version quite holds up to the standard set by this beloved delicacy.
