After two successful runs in Manila and Cebu, Malaysian-based global phenomenon, Big Bad Wolf Books once again made history after debuting its renowned Book Sale in Iloilo, dubbed the City of Love.
From October 13 to 23, 2023, Big Bad Wolf will transform SM Iloilo into a haven for book lovers. The event is expected to welcome thousands of visitors, from locals of the city to visitors from neighboring areas, all eager to explore the vast collection of literature which the Book Sale is so popular for.
The more books, the merrier!
The Big Bad Wolf team spared no effort in curating a diverse and extensive collection, offering a wide range of genres for all types of readers. In fact, to ensure a seamless browsing experience for attendees, collections will be displayed and spread across the whole Lower Ground Floor of SM Iloilo making it a fun and exciting ‘book hunt’ for everyone.
“We are thrilled to bring the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale to Iloilo for the first time,” said Andrew Yap, co-founder of Big Bad Wolf Books. “The warm reception from the people of Iloilo has exceeded our expectations, and it’s heartening to see the community’s enthusiasm for literature. Witnessing the joy on the faces of readers as they explore the vast world of books reinforces our belief in the transformative power of storytelling.”
Unbelievable deals, discounts, and more!
With over 2 million books to choose from, from timeless classics to contemporary bestsellers, bookworms from Iloilo will have a field day when visiting. The Iloilo run will also be home to several exclusive deals, promos, and discounts of up to 95% off, making it a book lover’s ultimate paradise and a testament to Big Bad Wolf’s commitment to making books accessible and affordable to all.
What goes around, comes around
Despite this being its first run in the City of Love, the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale is not just bringing a plethora of books for the young and old but is also weaving a narrative of generosity and community spirit. What’s more, collaborating with local organizations is at the forefront of this endeavor, matching the ethos of Iloilo’s warmth and kindness.
Big Bad Wolf continues to join forces with Metrobank, serving as its official bank partner. As a special offer, Metrobank extends the privilege of 0% installment for 3 months for every minimum purchase of PHP 3,000, adding an extra layer of convenience to the book-buying experience.
But the generosity doesn’t stop at the convenience of transactions. Big Bad Wolf’s CSR initiative, the Red Readerhood (RRH), takes center stage — a testament to the power of meaningful collaboration.
Red Readerhood
Through its continuous partnership with Gawad Kalinga, a prominent Philippine non-governmental organization, the Red Readerhood CSR initiative goes beyond the joy of reading by giving back to the community.
“We believe in the power of books to transform lives, and Red Readerhood is our way of sharing that belief with the community. Partnering with Gawad Kalinga has allowed us to channel our efforts towards making a positive impact beyond the joy of reading. Through this CSR initiative, we aim to not only provide access to books but also to contribute to the betterment of local communities,” said Carol Chuaying, BBW Philippine Partner.
Red Readerhood invites visitors to join BBW in its effort to make a difference in the lives of the underprivileged communities by purchasing books at the dedicated RRH booth located at the children’s section within the event premises. These purchased books will then be donated to Gawad Kalingad’s Traveling Maleta Library, which will be contributed on top of the 1,000 books pledged by BBW. It’s an opportunity for book enthusiasts to extend their love for literature to those who may not have the same access, creating a ripple effect of positive change through the simple act of buying a book.
Enjoy contests for more literary goodies!
Readers can join in on different contests and should lookout for activities that may occur throughout the sales period. One of the highlights is BBW’s Book Haul contest. An entry to this is easy, as participants can just share a photo or video of their purchase on social media platforms with the hashtag #BBWPHILIPPHINES2023 and #TROLLEYFULOFBOOKS.
Exciting prizes await in this contest where several lucky winners will take home a voucher worth PHP 500 based on the most creative entry. However, the highlight will be the Grand Prize—a magnificent “Trolleyful of Books,” for one lucky winner. So, imagine the joy of having a portable library at your fingertips, filled with stories and adventures.
With so many things in store for readers in Iloilo, book lovers have the chance to seize the opportunity and immerse themselves in the literary wonderland of Big Bad Wolf Book Sale before it bids farewell to the city. Before that day comes, however, make sure to take advantage of every minute at the event to discover new reads, incredible deals, and exciting prizes!
