850 personnel to secure, respond during WV meet

Different task groups and units were deployed to ensure safety, peace and security, and emergency response to the nearly 5,000 participants.

More than 850 personnel have been deployed for security, peace and order and emergency preparedness and response for the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) meet in Capiz.

Three Sub-Site Task Groups (SSTG) were created under the overall supervision of Capiz Police Provincial Director P/SSupt. Canilo Fuentes as Task Group WVRAA 2019 Commander with Roxas City Chief of Police P/Supt. Dante Tayco as the Sub-Task Group Commander.

The three SSTG includes the SSTG on Security led by Police Chief Inspector Ricardo Jomuad, SSTG Peace and Order with PCInsp. Edyliz Ritchie Crucero as commander and SSTG on Emergency, Preparedness and Response (EPR) with Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Judy Grace Pelaez as commander.

Pelaez said Task Units were likewise created under the EPR to include the Medical Emergency, Fire Safety and Suppression, Camp Management, Disaster Risk Reduction, and Search, Rescue and Retrieval.

The personnel from the different task groups and units were deployed to ensure safety, peace and security, and emergency response to the nearly 5,000 participants to this year’s regional sports competition hosted by the province of Capiz.

A total of 4,239 delegates composed of athletes, coaches, assistant coaches, trainers, chaperons and working committees from the six provinces in Region 6 are here for the event which kicked off, February 18, at the Villareal Stadium.

In addition, there are also 729 technical officials for the various sports events.

Of the total delegates from the provinces, 769 are from Aklan, 757 from Antique, 710 from Guimaras, 873 from Negros Occidental, 905 from Iloilo and 864 from Capiz.In February 16, Fuentes led the briefing, accounting of forces and send off ceremony of the 851 personnel from the different sub-task groups for the WVRAA meet set from February 17 to 23.(PIA/Capiz)
