The first 7s Football Tournament season is all set to roll on August 31 at West Visayas State University. Eight teams from seven districts of the city vie to compete for the open tourney on five Saturdays, starting tomorrow and the next four weekend of September.
There are eight matches per weekend with teams from Arevalo played by Western Institute of Technology; City Proper played by University of San Agustin; Jaro A played by Jaro FC; Jaro B played by Central Philippine University; Lapaz played by Lapaz Football Club; Lapuz played by GEDDS; Mandurriao played by Ateneo de Iloilo; and, Molo played by Westbridge.
Unlike with a regular football play, 7s is played with seven players at a lesser field with smaller goals. One team consists of seven players instead of the standard of 11 players in a regular football match. This makes the game pace faster and exciting.
